Dr. Cynthia Nduwayo is the owner and main doctor of Budental Services, a healthcare unit that provides consultancy, training as well as oral health related items and services. The nature of Budental and the services they offer make it either the first or among a few of its kind here in Burundi. They started operating in 2021 and their office is currently located in Rohero, at Avenue d’Italie.

Dr. Cynthia did her studies in the Philippines. She she learned there many different things that can facilitate oral heath care services. That knowledge paired with the lack of products she saw in Burundi. She was motivated to open a facility that will provide more advanced oral care services. 

They just recently published a children’s illustrated book on  good oral hygiene practices. It is entitled, “Ma bouche et moi , jewe no mu kanwa kanje, my mouth and I” in the three languages  respectively French, Kirundi and English. They are soon launching the book officially in an event planned at 4 pm on the 19th March at Centre Culturel Izuba.

The creativity they use to deliver their services especially to young children is what sets them apart from others. 

Budental is committed to turning around the oral hygiene in Burundi for the better one step at a time.

The work comes with its own set of challenges especially the fact that dental practice is not  given enough support and importance in the country.

In the future, they hope to have branches in every province  in order to bring the latest and modern dental services to Burundi.
